For almost 60 years of my working life, I was devoted to design and color in the textile field. At age 77, I thought it would be a good idea to put some of my thoughts relating to my everyday life on canvas. It seemed quite natural to use color as the basic element in my work. It follows, therefore, that the subject matter varies widely, but the interaction of the colors overshadows all else. When I began, it was some work by Kandinsky that seemed to coincide with my own thoughts about how to interpret on to canvas what my eyes see, for they are two different things. So, what I may see as a football scene, you may not see at all. But without question, it was more the color than the subject that cought your interest. Color, and perhaps a bit of whimsy,is what I hope to continue to achieve.. Edwin Levitin I have exhibited at various shows in Ill., In. and Mich. Many of them, juried.
