A Community of Artists and People Interested in Art
Our Mission Statement: The Southern Shore Art Association creates and stimulates interest in the visual arts by offering exhibits, educational opportunities and social events for our members and for the community.
On the shores of Lake Michigan bordering Indiana and Michigan, The Southern Shore Art Association is an inspiring art organization that welcomes all artists in the Northwest Indiana, Illinois and Michiana areas. With over 80 artist members and growing, the SSAA helps promote all artists by offering member and non-member shows, classes, scheduled monthly critiques, plein air paint-outs and a wonderful sense of community. The SSAA also invites other art organizations or individual non-member artists to exhibit and promote their art.
Our beautiful gallery at 724 Franklin Street, Michigan City, Indiana has ongoing exhibits with hours on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 6pm and on the First Friday of the month from Noon to 8pm. As part of the Michigan City IN Arts District, "First Fridays @ Five" is a joint project with the Uptown Arts District, http://www.uptownartsdistrict.org/.
If you would like to be on the email list to receive The Palette, our monthly newsletter, please email to d2211@comcast.net for all the current news from SSAA.
Artist studio space is available for rent in our building. Please call Arnold Besse at (219) 879-8523 and mention that "Southern Shore sent you".
