Michael Koscielniak attended the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, St. Joseph's College, Ft. Dearborn School of Photography (Chicago), Bogan College (underground film making with Tom Palazolo), and Hull House (Cinematography). Worked in small advertising agencies and studios in Chicago after graduating from art school.
My life interrupted to fulfill my military draft obligation. After a stint in the Army, moved to Southern California and made money painting murals in housing developments built in the suburbs. Moved back to the Midwest and took a job as an in house Art Director for the World's Finest Chocolate Company in Chicago. I did all the graphics and packaging design for the company until I retired. I participated in a movement called "Guerilla Television" started in Toronto and New York University. Television for Social Changes through local origination in public access video productions was the mission statement back than. I've produced video documentaries including "Correction Methods and Understanding Juvenile Delinquency" shown at the Indiana Probation Officers Convention, the creation of a prison rock opera "John the Baptist" as a rehab tool in the Michigan City Prison, "Flying over Chicago" in a Goodyear Blimp, and "Mark, the Farrier" an instructional video on shoeing horses using natural horsemanship technology and techniques. "When I do photography or video I use the camera as a paint brush." "I consider art as illusionary. When I paint in oil, acrylic or pencil, I work in layers, perspective, spacing, colors and sometimes abstract to create illusions that opens windows for viewers to see something. That creation and working process is subconscious to me. I don't know how I do it, but that's why I enjoy painting." I live in Michigan City and am a Multi Media artist. |
